You probably heard of the term Minimalism at this point, but if thatโs not the case I will introduce you to what Minimalism is, how can it be beneficial and how can we implement it in your lives, to live more intentionally, and have more freedom in our lives.
Minimalismโ
We all have a number of possessions and physical attachments in our life, may it be clothes, tech, cars, etc. Some of us are so emotionally attached to these physical things, that still have clothes when we were 3 years oldโฆ
Minimalism is a way of living. Is a way of not attaching ourselves and our emotions to these physical objects, and trying to only have the essential and what brings meaning and it’s useful in our life, removing all the noise that prevents us from moving forward.
Probably our collection of Pokemon cards doesn’t add much value to our lives (Unless they are from the 1999 set, in that case, do keep them lmao), so why are we holding onto them? Is it because they add value to our lives? Or it’s just that we are emotionally attached to it?
The point isn’t necessarily to get rid of cherished possessions but to be mindful and intentional about what you choose to keep and why.
You may be thinking: โI have had a good moment with ___, why would I get rid of it, even though it doesn’t add value to my life?โ
We tend to believe that if we keep the physical objects, we keep those memories alive forever.
The memories exist in our mind, they are not attached to a physical object. The more things we are emotionally attached to the past, and the more we hold into it, the less capable we are of living in the present and to move forward in life, this happens in ways we are not aware of.
โYesterday was past, tomorow is future, but today is a gift,. Thatโs why itโs called the present.โ

Now that we understand what minimalism is about, how can we implement it in our lives?
We can start by getting rid of the easy things that donโt add any value to our life. Being more rational than emotional. And we will see how much more free we feel after that.
In fact, there are people that get rid of so many things in just the first month, after seeing how much emotional attachment was holding them back from experiencing this freedom.
Minimalism can also be an escape from this mass consumerism world, when we shift our minds to only have things that truly add value to our lives, we will see that we stop spending on useless things.
This mentality can ultimately have a good impact on relationships. Just the fact that we know that getting emotionally attached to things can hold us back, can benefit our relationships with friends, family, and loved ones. Let me give an example:
Letโs say that you tend to be a controlling and possessive person over others. As we know, paradoxically, this is ultimately what makes others avoid and ultimately leave us.
If we instead let go of the need to control and possess and the emotional attachment and dependency over that person, we can truly enjoy the relationship.
I hope you gained some interest in minimalism, and remember, the more important thing is to take action, so my advice right now would be this:
Find just one thing, and remove it from your home right now.
Thank you for reading and have a great rest of your day! ๐
